All non-domestic buildings in England and Wales fall under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, which requires a fire risk assessment to be carried out by a responsible person. We can advise on the right system for your building and keep it compliant.
Fire alarm systems
The most common systems we install are category ‘L’ type, which are designed to protect life. There are five categories:
Category L1
Automatic detectors installed throughout all areas of the building, including roof spaces and voids, apart from minor exceptions, to give the earliest possible warning. Typically appropriate for residential care premises.
Category L2
Automatic detectors in escape routes, rooms adjoining escape routes and high-hazard rooms. Suitable for medium-sized premises sleeping no more than ten residents.
Category L3
Automatic detectors in all escape routes and all rooms that open onto an escape route, designed to give early warning so everyone can exit before escape routes become impassable.
Category L4
Automatic detectors covering escape routes and circulation areas only. Where the risk assessment or the size of the building requires it, detectors may also be sited elsewhere to protect the escape route.
Category L5
The ‘custom’ category, covering special requirements not met by L1 to L4 — for example, a computer room protected by an extinguishing system triggered by automatic detection.
Fire risk assessments
A fire risk assessment identifies the hazards in your building, who is at risk, and what needs to change. It is a legal requirement for most non-domestic premises, and it is the starting point for specifying the right alarm system. We can carry out the assessment and recommend the category that fits your building.

Intruder alarms
Burglar alarm systems for homes and businesses, with entry and exit control, motion detection and optional monitoring.
CCTV
